How cropping works in a PDF

Cropping sets the visible area of each page. Viewers and printers show only what is inside the box, so wide margins disappear and the page becomes smaller.

The parts outside the box are hidden, not erased: they are still inside the file and can be restored by PDF editing software. To remove sensitive content permanently, use whiteout in the PDF Editor instead.

Tip: Cropping scanned book pages? Tick "Trim each page to its own content" to handle pages that sit differently on the scanner.

Your files stay on your device

Most online PDF sites upload your documents to their servers. Aleynray Ai does the work inside your browser instead, on your own computer or phone.

Nothing is sent anywhere, so contracts, bank statements, IDs and medical forms stay private, and there is no waiting for uploads.

  • Free, with no sign-up or limits
  • No watermark
  • Files never leave your device
  • Opens password-protected PDFs
  • Works on desktop and mobile

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping delete the hidden parts?

No. They are hidden but stay in the file. Use the PDF Editor's whiteout to remove content permanently.

Can I crop just one page?

Yes. Choose "This page only", or type a range.

How does automatic cropping work?

The page is drawn, and the tool looks for the first and last rows and columns that aren't white, then adds a small border.

Will the cropped PDF print smaller?

The page size becomes the cropped size, so it prints larger on the same paper if your printer scales to fit.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no limit on files and no watermark.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The tool runs inside your web browser and works on the file on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, so private documents stay private.
