Numbering that fits your document
Reports and theses often leave the cover unnumbered and start counting on page 2. Type 2-end in the pages box and set the first number to 1, and the count starts where you want it. "of 12" always shows the number of the last numbered page.
Numbers are added as real text in the PDF, so they print sharply and can be searched. Everything else on the page stays exactly as it was.

Type 2-end in "Number these pages". Set "First number" to 1 if the second page should be page 1.
